“A voice of rich tone and intense expressive power .. enhanced
by dramatic flair"
is how the Washington Post describes mezzo-soprano, Siggal Zeira.
Her portrayal of Brangane (Tristan und Isolde ) alongside
Jane Eaglen’s Isolde in Puerto Rico earned excellent reviews,
El Vocero stating that she “ developed a very decorous
Brangane....her timbre is very beautiful, rich and warm.“
Other operatic portrayals include Charlotte (Werther) in
Israel and, previously, Isabella (L’Italiana in Algeri).
Her New York recital debut at Merkin Concert Hall and her
Washington DC recital debut for the Vocal Art’s Society heralded
her success as winner of the prestigious Joy of Singing
Competition, the New York Times applauding her
"commanding stage presence and .. attractive, thickly colored
tone smothered in legato “. Siggal subsequently returned to New
York to perform Brahms’ Two Songs for Alto Voice and Viola op
91 and to Puerto Rico to perform at the renowned Sala
Casals.
Siggal embraces a versatile concert career, engagements
including a gala evening alongside Renata Scotto in Vienna’s Mozart
Sall; her debut at the Alice Tully Hall, New York announcing
her success as the winner of the Liederkranz Scholarship Award;
Handel’s Messiah with the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra;
a gala evening at Bellas Artes, Puerto Rico with the Coro de
Niños; and Shostakovich’s Songs of Jewish Poetry op 79 with
the Mannes Orchestra, New York.
On the operatic stage her current roles include include Adalgisa
(Norma), Principessa (Adriana Lecouvreur), Amneris
(Aida), Santuzza (Cavalleria Rusticana), Olga (Eugene
Onegin) and Pauline (Pique Dame). |
